The Milwaukee Bucks had a very disappointing season where they did not qualify for the playoffs after finishing the year with a record of 32-50. This is after three straight years of being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

The days of being a championship contender that is built around the talents of Giannis Antetokounmpo are over and the Bucks are ready to rebuild or retool. There were trade rumors around Giannis the entire season and now the Bucks have officially announced that they are open to trading the two-time most valuable player.

Antetokounmpo had an injury riddled season and only played in 36 games but in those games still showed himself to be one of the best players in the NBA. He averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 62% from the floor. Showing that he can still be a difference maker on a championship team.

Every team can use a player like Giannis Antetokounmpo but what teams have the assets and believe that he is the missing piece to a championship roster. Here are a few trade ideas.

Dynamic Duo in the Valley

The Phoenix Suns exceeded expectations this year by making it to the playoffs but they were swept in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder. They have made progress but are still very far from title contention. So how can they add Giannis to their roster?

Phoenix Gets:

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Gets:

Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Ryan Dunn, 2027 first round pick and 2029 first round pick

The Suns as currently constructed are not going to be title contenders for quite a while but if they are able to pair Devin Booker with Giannis Antetokounmpo that speeds up the process in a major way.

The Bucks would benefit from this trade by getting young talent in Jalen Green and Ryan Dunn to be a part of the building process for them to retool their team, along with a proven veteran in Brooks who will help build a winning culture.

The Giannis Gumbo

The New Orleans Pelicans had a very disappointing season that went beyond the bad product on the court. Detroit Pistons legend Joe Dumars is now the president of basketball operations for the Pelicans and took a big risk in last year’s draft.

He traded away the Pelicans’ 2026 draft pick to move up in the 2025 draft to get Derik Queen. The move has been heavily criticized and did not lead to immediate team success. New Orleans ended the season with a record of 26-56.

Queen showed promise but how good would he be playing alongside Giannis. Here is a trade that benefits both teams.

New Orleans Gets:

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Gets:

Zion Williamson, Dejounte Murray, 2027 and 2029 first round picks

New Orleans would be receiving a big time star in a trade for the first time in franchise history, instead of letting go a of a big time star like they had to do with Chris Paul and later on Anthony Davis.

Adding Giannis Antetokounmpo to this Pelicans roster alongside Trey Murphy III, Herb Jones, Jeramiah Fears, and Derik Queen would give them a true chance to contend in the western conference.

The Bucks would get a young star to build around in Zion Williamson along with a veteran point guard in Dejounte Murray.

Getting Freaky on South Beach

The Miami Heat have been stuck in play-in land for the last four years. Now in fairness to them, they did make it to NBA Finals in 2022-23 season but the last three years have seen them eliminated in the play-in or the first round of the playoffs. Its time to shake things up in a big way.

Miami Gets:

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Gets:

Tyler Herro, Andrew Wiggins, Kel’el Ware, 2026 and 2028 first round picks

This trade would be a great restart for both teams. The Heat would have one of the best defensives in the league with the combo of Giannis and Bam Adebayo. They can also add offensive pieces around those two to put them in contention in the eastern conference.

The Bucks will still need to time to build a contender but the combo of Tyler Herro and Kel’el Ware are great pieces to start the process.

This offseason will be very interesting and where ever Giannis lands will have a major impact on the league as a whole.

Which trade idea do you like the most? Do you have any trades that may be better than the ones I came up with?
