The NBA season is underway and here are some my observations from the beginning of the season.

Victor Wembanyama is Here!

Victor Wembanyama is here and the league may be in trouble. The San Antonio Spurs are (3-0) and Wembanyama has absolutely dominated on both ends. Through three games the Frenchman is averaging 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and six blocks per game.

The approach has been different this season as he is using his versatility to impose his will. Wembanyama is taking 21.7 shots per game and only 3.7 of those shots are three pointers. Last season, he was taking 18.6 shots per game and 8.8 of those were three pointers. Wembanyama shot 47% from the floor last season and so far this year is shooting 57%. If this continues, Wembanyama may win the Most Valuable Player award.

LaMelo Ball, Superstar?

LaMelo Ball is very talented, the talent has not been the question or concern with him. He has not been able to stay healthy or be as efficient as his talent says he should be. The Charlotte Hornets are (2-1) so far this season and have been on fire, offensively, averaging 132 points per game. Which is second best in the league?

Ball is the head of that attack, averaging, 28.3 points, 9.7 assists, and 8.3 rebounds per game while shooting 48% from the floor and 41% from three point range, on 10.3 three point attempts per game.

This is a very small sample size but Ball may be on his way to proving that he is the type of player you can build a winner around. Please stay healthy, LaMelo!

Zero Fears

The New Orleans Pelicans are (0-2) but they have had some bright spots to start the year and one of the biggest bright spots is rookie Jeremiah Fears. Fears number zero jersey is already a hit, but now it will go flying off the shelves or internet sites because he has been more than impressive.

He plays with such great pace for a young player. Fears moves quickly but does not rush. He knows what he is good at and what spots he likes to shoot from and makes sure that he shoots from those spots. The 19-year old is averaging 15 points per game and shooting 66% from the floor over the first two games. If he continues to play this well, he may take Jordan Poole’s starting spot by mid-season.

Here are my big takeaways from NBA’s opening week. Be on the lookout for this article each and every week.
