In Week 1, I went 2 out of 5 in my can’t miss player props. I don’t feel bad about my picks, just had a few bad breaks. I’m still mad that Trey McBride somehow didn’t go over 63.5 receiving yards after having 53 receiving yards at halftime but let’s make up for it with this weeks picks.
Just as a reminder, the best way to have success with these picks is to make the individual bets along with the parlay. As always, bet responsibly, don’t lose your rent money, cause you can’t stay with me.
Cowboys -4.5 vs Giants
The Dallas Cowboys are set up for a bounce back performance against the New York Giants. The Cowboys lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 24-20, in the opening Thursday night game.
They now have had extra time to prepare for a New York Giants team that looked really bad against the Washington Commanders in week one. The Giants lost 21-6 and the offense was absolutely putrid. New York quarterback, Russell Wilson, struggled behind that Giants offensive line in a major way against Washington.
I don’t see that changing this week against a Cowboys defense that looked respectable against the defending champion, Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas should defeat the Giants by more than five points.
Josh Allen OVER 1.5 passing TDs and 231.5 passing yards
Josh Allen was the player of the week in week one. He led an improbable comeback against the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore was up 40-25 with less than five minutes left in the game and Allen was able to led the Bills on a 16-0 run to end the game. The Bills won 41-40 in what could be the game of the year.
This week the Bills are on the road against the New York Jets. The Jets are (0-1) after losing an absolute thriller of a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-32. In that game, Steelers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers went 22/30 for 244 yards and four touchdowns.
The Jets defense had a lot of trouble with Aaron Rodgers and now they are about to go against arguably the best quarterback in the NFL. Allen should definitely be able to throw for more than 232 yards and at least two touchdowns.
Breece Hall OVER 59.5 rushing yards
The Jets may have lost to the Steelers but they had lots of success on the offensive side of the ball and that includes their rushing attack. Breece Hall had 109 yards on 19 carries in that game.
The Jets are taking on the Bills this week, who struggled stopping the run against the Baltimore Ravens, last week. Ravens running back, Derrick Henry, ran for 169 yards in that game. Baltimore has the most dynamic running duo in the league with quarterback, Lamar Jackson and Henry.
The Jets also have a dynamic duo rushing attack with Hall and Justin Fields at quarterback. Fields and Hall aren’t Jackson and Henry but they provide a very similar issue for the Bills with their dynamic rushing attack. Hall should definitely rush for 60 or more yards.
49ers vs Saints UNDER 40.5 total points
This may be the ugliest game of week two. The (0-1) New Orleans Saints take on the (1-0) San Francisco 49ers. The Saints are not expected to be good this season and their week one performance against the Arizona Cardinals, did nothing to dispel that expectation. New Orleans only scored 13 points in their season opener.
The 49ers were able to win their opener against the Seattle Seahawks, 17-13, but it was an ugly offensive performance. Brock Purdy had a very up and down game, he went 26/35 for 277 yards for two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Purdy is dealing with turf toe and will miss this match-up against the Saints. So, we have Spencer Rattler starting at quarterback for the Saints and Mac Jones for the 49ers. This is a game that is destined to be low scoring, like 13-10. I love the under on 40.5 total points.
